For the longest time Apple refused to acknowledge any developments related to the iPhone 5, but they have finally announced an official release date of September 12. This is a much anticipated event, and it is likely that the iPhone 5 will be available for purchase September 21. Unfortunately, those at Apple are stubborn and refuse to confirm anything other than the release date, leaving us to speculate endlessly.
There are several rumors circulating in regards to the iPhone 5. We don’t quite know all the details, but with a few slips of the tongue from those who simply can’t keep a secret, we have a relatively good idea of what is to come. The iPhone 4 was only a slight improvement to its forerunner, but the iPhone 5 is supposed to be truly innovative.
The most popular suggestion is that the new iPhone will have a 4-inch display, in comparison to the previous 3.5-inch display. With a 16:9 ratio, viewing movies, taking photographs and capturing videos will be easier than ever. There is debate concerning improvements to NFC technology, and there is talk about a quad-core processor. It is also expected that the new iPhone will be equipped with the latest mobile platform, named iOS 6.
Along with various technological advancements, it is rumored that the design of the new iPhone has been adapted as well. The screen may be larger, but the frame is said to be much more slender, available with both glass and metal accents. The dock connector will also be smaller, as Apple works to fit the most technology into the smallest package possible.
These details may only be rumors, but it would not surprise us at all if such claims were accurate. Apple rarely disappoints, and fans are more than ready for a new addition to the iPhone legacy. One thing is for certain: a new iPhone is being released. As with previous iPhones, it is likely prices will range between $199 and $399, and through US Unlocked, purchase is available to those around the world. Within a few days we will know the facts, and everyone will have the opportunity to explore the latest and greatest in cellular technology.
The iPhone 4S unlocked version finally became available for purchase on the US Apple website. It is quite unique for Apple to come out with a unlocked version so soon after the launch of a new model. It certainly has the interest of a huge international fan base eager to get their hands on it.
Luckily for anyone outside the US, this phone is within reach through US Unlocked either through the personal shopping service or through the US Unlocked Card with US billing address. The prices for the unlocked iPhone 4S are a bit steeper than the locked versions:

While the first million of the new Apple iPhones 4S have been sold so far that even had Steve Wozniak waiting in line for (video), many enthusiasts outside of the USA are anxious to get the iPhone 4S unveiled as 'world phone', but it seems to only be available to Americans at the moment.
High time for some clarity on the subject! These are the facts currently known to us:
What does 'world phone' mean?
It means that the iPhone 4S is compatible with both GMS and CDMA networks. However, customers who want to benefit from this feature will need to buy the phone locked to a two year contract and request the phone to be unlocked. To buy the locked version you need a US social security number and a credit check is performed before the phone is sold to you. In short, the locked version is not available to the non-US costumer.
Will there be an unlocked iPhone 4S?
Yes, in November the iPhone 4S will be released that is not locked to any carrier at these prices:
When clicking on this link: Learn more about the unlocked iPhone, it says 'a credit check may be required'. The iPhone 3GS is sold without any credit check that we know off so we will need to wait until November to find out what this note means.
Hopefully, we were able to clear up any confusion regarding the unlocked iPhone 4s. If you have any questions or have more information, do let us know!
Apple made a surprising move to start selling the iPhone 4 unlocked to any carrier. The phone is available to anyone now: no social security number needed, no mandatory binding 2 -year carrier contract.
This is great news for all iPhone fans overseas who have not yet been able to get their hands on the iPhone 4. The unlocked phone sells in black and white: $649 for 16GB, $749 for 32Gb and will work with an active micro-SIM card from any supported GSM carrier worldwide.
To be able to order from Apple in the USA you need a US billing and shipping address. By setting up an iTunes account (tutorial)* with US billing address and using a US Unlocked shipping address you easily sail through the checkout procedure.
*the US Unlocked Card necessary for setting up a US iTunes account will be available again shortly as we are transitioning to a Visa card. In the meantime please, use our Personal Shopping service.
That is the tagline on Apple.com for the iPhone 4 to be released on June 24th.
We just (barely) recovered from the iPad fever! But, there is no denying that this phone is ground breaking, yes yet again.
The overal look is amazing thanks to specially engineered glass also used on helicopter making it less likely to be damaged. Revolutionary is FaceTime which enables video calling all while the image resolution is incredible. (click here for more techs and specs). The iPhone 4 will come in black and in white and will be available for pre-order to those in the US, UK, Japan, France and Germany beginning June 15th.
We can just about imagine the frenzy among the gadget crazed who live somewhere else. At US Unlocked the emails on the iPhone 4 started pouring in already.
The small print on the Apple website shatters the hope for many:
Requires new two-year AT&T wireless service contract, sold separately to qualified customers; credit check required; must be 18 or older. Existing AT&T customers who want to upgrade from another phone or replace an iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS should check with AT&T or use www.apple.com/iphone/buy. For those who are not eligible for an early upgrade or who wish to buy iPhone as a gift, the prices are $499 (8GB), $599 (16GB), or $699 (32GB). In CA, MA, and RI, sales tax is collected on the unbundled price of iPhone. Service may not be available in all areas or at the signal strength, rates, speeds, or bandwidth as demonstrated. Wi-Fi Internet access required for some features; broadband recommended; fees may apply. Some applications, features, and services are not available in all areas. Visit www.wireless.att.com to check AT&T network coverage in your area. iPhone is configured to work only with wireless service provided by AT&T. Warranty information available at www.apple.com/legal/warranty/iphone. When available, transferring your mobile number to a different service provider will terminate your service with your existing provider; termination fees and other charges may apply. Some features may require added fees. Contact your service provider for more details. Use constitutes acceptance of Apple's software license agreement and third-party terms located in the iPhone box. Unauthorized modification of your iPhone software violates the software license agreement. Inability to use an iPhone due to unauthorized modifications is not covered under your warranty.
While from the above one might have a spark of hope reading about the option to buy the phone as a gift (so without the 2 year contract) the iPhone 4 is only available to those customers with a social security number (they need this to be able to run a credit check)... And then again the phone is locked to AT&T anyway so it will not work whith another (non-US) wireless service provider, although it will only be a matter of time before iPhone 4 jailbreaking tricks will surface.
Anyway, whoever goes to check the AT&T site to find out more about the iPhone 4 and the pre-order process gets this message: Pre-orders for iPhone temporarily suspended. This happened after customers pre-ordered 600,000 devices on the first day.UPDATE: iPhone 4 is now available on Amazon.
