The current US Unlocked Card program through Mastercard and Metropolitan Bank has now been terminated officially and you will no longer be able to make purchases with your card.
With the de-activation of the cards it is also no longer possible to request an international bank transfer of any balance you may still have on your card. The option to request an ACH transfer to a US bank account is still available, however the ACH’s will be handled by the bank from now on and a $10 fee is charged.
In the meantime we have found a new home for US Unlocked. The next steps are to get the new bank’s and network’s official approval and to do the integration. From our 10 years of experience we are well aware how much time is involved with getting a new card program approved and up and running.
Ideally we will have new cards before the end of the year. Accountholders with remaining balance will have those balances transferred to the new card if issued before December 31st of this year. In the case where US Unlocked is unable to issue new cards before that date, our current bank (Metropolitan Bank) will turn any unclaimed balance over the New York State Comptroller’s Office of Unclaimed Funds in accordance with normal escheatment procedures.
