Update regarding Mastercard termination

Dear card holder,

I want to keep you updated on the developments around the current termination by Mastercard and any news about a new home for US Unlocked.

Current status
Your card is still active and can be used for purchases. We cannot load any funds to it anymore. The card will be de-activated on June 15.

New cards
We have found a network other than Mastercard for our new cards however our current issuing bank does not work with this network. As such our program will need to be moved over to a new issuing bank. We are currently in negotiations with a few. Once an agreement has been reached we will enter the application procedure which can take anywhere from 4 – 12 weeks.

What does this mean?
As of 5:00 pm Eastern Time June 15th October 12, you will no longer be able to buy goods or services with your card. Until that date you will be able to make transactions and use up your balance.

What will happen to my money?
If you currently have money on your card I strongly recommend that you use up your balance ASAP. This will be the quickest solution. If you do not have any immediate purchases you can purchase an e-gift card of your favorite retailer. You can also request to have your balance transferred to a bank account, however the process is longer (2+ weeks) and costly (up to $36.50 in fees). If you do nothing , you will need to retrieve your funds from the state of New York.

We had hoped to be able to issue new cards before the de-activation date but I want to be as transparent as possible and give you enough time to make arrangements for your balance.
