Ann Taylor offers classic styled suits, separates, dresses, shoes and accessories. Aimed at professional women, the clothes are well made and in classic designs.
Ann Taylor began in 1954 with a dress and a dream. When Richard Liebeskind opened his first shop in New Haven, Connecticut, he named it “Ann Taylor” after the best-selling dress style in his father’s own store. That dress represented his vision of the modern, stylish American woman.
Ann Taylor, and all brands under ANN, Inc, were acquired by Ascena Group, Inc in 2015.
On July 23, 2020, Ascena filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, citing the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent shutdowns as having “severely disrupted” its financial foundation. Stores with locations to be closed include Ann Taylor, LOFT, Lane Bryant and Lou & Grey stores, including all stores across brands in Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico, as well as all Catherine Stores and a “significant number” of Justice stores.
