The Apple Watch is one of the most well-known smartwatches you can buy. Apple has made improvements to its Apple Watch that are much appreciated. There are two new Apple Watches, Series 1 and Series 2. Below you will see what improvements were made to the Apple Watch.

Swimproof

By far one of the best upgrades to the new watch is that it’s waterproof for up to 50 meters. What does that mean? It means that you can jump into a pool with the Apple Watch on and not be afraid of it being damaged.  With this amazing feature, you can now track the laps you swim in the pool. The Watch can even detect what kind of stroke you’re using. Can you take it for a swim in salt water? Yes! You can go swimming or surfing with your watch, just no scuba diving.

Built in GPS

A much needed feature that many runners and cyclists have been waiting for, built in GPS. With built-in GPS, you don’t have to wear the uncomfortable iPhone armband while on your run or bike ride. The GPS tracking starts once the Watch detects you are away from your iPhone. Your watch will record your distance, pace, and speed throughout your workout. When you get back to your iPhone, you will be able to view the map of your route, showing you how you performed throughout the workout.

Display & Performance

By taking a quick look at the new Apple Watch, you won’t realize any differences from the previous version. Nevertheless, the differences are there. Both Series 1 and Series 2 feature a screen that is twice as bright. The screens are 1,000 nits. The brightness of one nit is equivalent to the brightness of one burning candle. Imagine having the brightness of 1,000 candles on your wrist. Hello, Apple Watch. The added brightness will make it easier to read in direct sunlight.

Apple also gives you a watch with an improved processor. The new dual-core processor is said to be 50% faster than the single-core processor found on the original watch. The speed is mostly timed by how fast apps load on the watch.

WatchOS 3

The newest Apple Watch operating system will come preinstalled on all new Watches, WatchOS 3. Coupled with the new dual-core processor, WatchOS 3 helps make the Watch feel faster and smoother. Easily access apps with the press of a button. Apps previously accessed will run in the background, allowing for faster load times. Swipe edge to edge to change between the different watch faces.
